Celebrating Glad to Care Week with a Series of Motivational, Team-Building & Fun Activities
This month’s newsletter is all about our highlights from our enthusiastic participation in Glad to Care Week, a national awareness week dedicated to celebrating the exceptional dedication of those in the care sector. Each day of the week, our team engaged in motivational, team-building and fun activities to showcase the positive difference our kind and caring team aims to provide for our future residents.
The week kicked off with Motivational Monday, where the team enjoyed a live Zoom chair yoga class, followed by an afternoon filled with music and dancing. The activities set a positive and energetic tone for the week, fostering a sense of unity and motivation among the staff.
Tasty Tuesday was a delicious affair centred around food. The day featured an amazing chocolate fountain, a make-your-own pizza station and cupcake decorating. These culinary activities not only delighted our taste buds but also encouraged creativity and teamwork.
On Wellbeing Wednesday, the focus shifted to self-care. The team indulged in hand and head massages, had their nails done, and enjoyed some relaxing time in our cinema room. A Pilates class and virtual reality sessions showcasing spectacular oceans and wildlife provided additional relaxation and rejuvenation.
Thankful Thursday was dedicated to building friendships and community connections. We invited our local neighbors and community members to share a BBQ lunch prepared by our fabulous chef Stuart and his wonderful second-in-command, Margarita. This event highlighted the importance of gratitude and community support, reinforcing our commitment to fostering strong relationships both within and outside Floryn House.
The week concluded with Feelgood Friday, a day of pure fun and celebration. The team dressed up in fancy dress and enjoyed a carnival-themed day filled with music, dancing, candy floss, popcorn making and a hook-a-duck game. The highlight of the day was the "Soak the Chef" fundraiser, where our beloved chef Stuart gamely faced buckets of water for a good cause, much to everyone’s delight. Cheers to Stuart for being such a great sport!
Glad to Care Week at Floryn House was a resounding success, showcasing the outstanding dedication of our team. Working in the care sector is not for the faint-hearted and this week provided a valuable opportunity to recognise and appreciate each team member’s contribution. Their hard work and compassionate care make a significant difference in the lives of our residents, and we are proud to celebrate and honor them.
As we look forward to welcoming our future residents, the spirit and camaraderie displayed during Glad to Care Week reassure us that Floryn House is not just a care home, but a vibrant and supportive community dedicated to excellence in care.
