A Hooting Visit From Chrissie’s Owls!

This month, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Chrissie's Owls, a non-profit organisation based in Oxfordshire offering services such as Owl Rescue, Film Work and care home visits. Chrissie brought a few of her owls to visit the residents and staff at Floryn House and we all loved getting the opportunity to learn more about them, hold them and just be up close with them. We learnt a lot including about the ways owls live, breed, eat and survive. Getting the chance to see them in person gave our residents a greater appreciation for them.

When our residents were holding the owls, they were able to feel their weight and see the texture and pattern of their feathers. No two owls that visited us were the same and residents spent the rest of the day talking about their favourite visitor! Getting up close with the owls was a sensory experience for our residents which engaged their cognitive functions and hand-to-eye coordination.

At Floryn House Care Home, we are dedicated to improving the quality of life of our residents through our facilities and amenities, particularly our activities and entertainment programme. It is important to us that we take into account the personal preferences of our residents when creating our activity calendars so we make sure they can continue to do the things they love.

To find out more about what our residents get up to on a regular basis, check out our news and events page. Or book a tour to find out if Floryn House is the right care home for you or your loved one.
